Can you type with a finger splint on?
Most people can type with a finger splint on. Whether it gets in the way is less a question of technique than of the splint itself: how tall it sits, where the material runs, what it weighs, and where anything wraps around the finger.
What follows is a description of those properties and a few practical adjustments at a desk. It is not guidance on whether to wear support while you work. That decision belongs to you and a qualified healthcare professional.
Profile is the first thing you notice
A full-size keyboard puts key centres about 19 mm apart, and the fingers work close together in a small space. A tall splint changes the angle at which a finger meets a key, and that extra height is what catches the row above or the key next door.
Low profile is the property that matters here, not overall size. A splint can cover a good length of the finger and still stay clear of the keys if it sits close to the skin. Where the material sits
Most desk interference comes from the underside. Anything across the palm side of the fingertip sits between you and the key, and it dulls the sense of contact that touch typing runs on. Material along the back of the finger interferes far less at a keyboard, though it becomes more noticeable when you curl your hand around a phone.

Weight and straps over a long day
Both Struxa splints weigh about 7 g. At that weight there is very little for the hand to carry through a long session at a desk. A heavier splint is a different experience by mid-afternoon, and that difference is easy to underestimate in the first ten minutes of wear.
Strap placement is the other quiet variable. Anything crossing a crease you bend constantly will make itself known hour after hour, and a fastening that felt right first thing can feel different later as hands warm up. It is worth checking where everything sits before a long stretch of work rather than in the middle of one.
Heat and airflow
Heat is the complaint that arrives late. A closed shell holds warm, damp air against the skin, and desk work keeps the hand in one position long enough for that to build.
An open lattice lets air move across the skin instead. It also makes the splint easy to keep clean at the end of a working day: hand wash with mild soap and cool to lukewarm water, then air dry completely. Skip the dishwasher, the washing machine, hot water and direct heat, all of which can affect the additively manufactured polymer.

Small adjustments worth testing
Before deciding a splint and a desk cannot coexist, a few changes cost nothing to try. Flatten the keyboard feet so fingers approach the keys more directly. Move the pointing device to the other hand for part of the day. On a trackpad, a splinted finger often works better as the anchor while a neighbouring finger does the scrolling.
Phones are the harder surface, because the grip and the typing come from the same hand. Two-handed thumb typing, a stand, or dictation all spread the work across more of the hand rather than loading one finger.
